Being confident is the key for getting yourself out there. Even if you don’t look like Rob Pattinson or the hottest men in Hollywood, you can be someone girls adore and want to be around with. Looks don’t have to be an all-encompassing thing. Looks ain’t everything. Becoming cool and confident will be easy to do. Improving confidence, on the other hand, can solve a lot of your worries.
Surprisingly, even the most introverted and shy guy can be a chick-magnet. There is such a thing as calm and quiet confidence. Guys who are quiet and shy by nature are the ones who have this. But not all shy and timid guys are confident. And if you belong to the latter, you might need to fake it ‘til you make it.
Fake confidence? Won’t that be similar to pretending to be someone you’re not, which is one of the worst mistakes you can commit? Theoretically, it’s not. While faking an air of confidence can be viewed as pretending to be a confident person, it’s not necessarily bad.
When you say fake confidence, in this context, it simply means you tell yourself you are someone who doesn’t need to be intimidated by others because you look great in your own way and that girls will like you for who you are.
It’s taking on a positive mindset. You’re throwing away all negative and self-destructive thoughts. You dump every single bad self-image you have. You tell yourself that you are not intimidated and scared of things that could go wrong.
I know what you’re thinking right now: it’s so damn hard to do. I won’t lie to you. It’s not easy to do. And that is why you have to “fake it.” So how do you do it?
Proper posture matters—a lot
Don’t slouch when sitting or standing. This makes you look silly. Slouchers are usually people who are so afraid of social interaction they sink inside their shells. How else will you think ladies think of you when you don’t stand—or sit—straight? A confident guy knows how to carry himself well. And that means he knows how to stand straight.
Smiling lights up your face
It also takes away the nervous look on your face. I know you can’t help but feel nervous. But you don’t have to let it show. Think of something nice and smile. You’ll be surprised at how better and calmer you’ll feel.
Dress well
First impressions always last. Remember that. So if a girl sees you’re so nervous you’re shaking worse than an epileptic and you look like you’re dressed for an ‘80s prom night, you’ll never score with her. But if you’re dressed really well, it wouldn’t really matter much if you look so nervous because she’ll notice how cute you look in that neatly-ironed shirt, pants, and designer shoes.
Don’t forget proper grooming as well. Keep your nails clean, your hair trimmed, and, most importantly, your breath fresh.
Always have something in your hand
This is one of the most effective tricks in not letting your nervousness show. Why? When you have something in your hands, like a glass or bottle of beer, you won’t have to be fidgety all the time. Women can always tell if you’re nervous.
Keep quiet and listen more
When you’re nervous, you tend to say the wrong things. So if you want to look confident, shut your mouth. Let her do most of the talking. Listen to her more. This way, you don’t run the risk of squeaking or saying something completely absurd.
There’s a lot you can do to hide your nervousness and look confident, even if it’s only for show. But if you do it more frequently, you’ll discover that improving confidence starts just by faking it until you make it.
