We could go on and on about cocky comedy–in fact, we pretty much have. And yet we haven’t even come close to exhausting the topic.
Cocky comedy is incredibly versatile, and it’s well worth any serious PUA’s time to devote some detailed study to it. Here are some more examples of cocky comedy, and specific ways to use it.
Be goofy!
Cocky comedy doesn’t always have to have some subtle ulterior motive. Sometimes, the situation just calls for a good laugh, pure and simple. Try doing goofy things like welcoming girls to the club when the walk in, thanking them for their patronage–then acting confused when they think you work there. Or a classic routine, and one of my personal favorites: when you see a girl eyeing you, pull out your cell phone, and act like you’re talking about her to someone, making sure she hears you. For example: “Yeah, I’m alone…well, there’s this girl at the next table. Yeah, she’s cute, I guess, but I think something’s wrong with her eye, she keeps staring at me.” Sure to evoke a giggle every time.
Laughter puts people at ease, and makes them feel more comfortable around you. You can maintain the arrogance factor of cocky comedy while toning down the challenging aspect of it, and it’s okay to do so–especially around shy or insecure girls, who may be intimidated by too much teasing. A less intense form of cocky comedy can be useful in getting this type of woman–or any type, for that matter–to warm up to you if you’re particularly concerned about offending her.
Be genuine!
Above all, be yourself when using cocky comedy. Everybody’s style is a little different, so adapt these techniques to suit yours. If an approach isn’t working for you, try putting a different spin on it to suit your personality. And if it just doesn’t seem right, drop it and try something else; there are plenty of different cocky funny approaches, so there’s no need to keep hammering away at one if you just can’t get the hang of it.
Everyone has the capacity to be funny, but our individual senses of humor manifest in different ways. If you’re the dry, sarcastic type, something silly like the cell phone trick probably won’t seem natural coming from you. Similarly, if you’ve got an energetic, straightforward personality, you’ll probably have a more playful, flirtatious sense of humor. Don’t be afraid to stick with what you do best; if you can’t make it funny, forget about it. Nothing’s less funny than somebody trying to be funny and not succeeding. Remember, you want them laughing with you…not stare blankly at you.
